Student representatives from the Western Divestment Coalition, alongside a faculty advisor, met with Western Administration yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, President Shepard remains absent from our conversations, a situation that we have clearly expressed our disappointment with to the University.
After 18 days of silence from the Administration, we have finally engaged in what we believe to be a productive conversation to move towards a resolution. We remain committed to dialogue and anticipate more constructive discussions in the near future.
A follow up meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd. Student representatives will be in attendance to continue advocating for the students’ demands. These conversations are crucial, especially as we approach the Board of Governors meeting on June 27th which can play a significant role in our divestment efforts.
The Coalition will continue to provide updates to the Community as they become available. We appreciate the support of our classmates and peers, especially those advocating for Palestine at their convocation. We will remain steadfast in our efforts until the University puts forward an adequate resolution.
