The Western Divestment Coalition has received communication back from the Administration after submitting an alternative proposal on June 6th.
The University Administration has yet to acknowledge or address the Coalition’s alternative proposal, and has delayed the proceedings, despite its claims to the community that it is working towards a swift resolution to the matter. Regrettably, the terms of the proposal announced by President Shepard on May 29th offer no tangible mechanisms for accountability or frameworks related to divestment, thereby rendering it aimless.
The lack of genuine dialogue is disappointing, especially as the Administration continues to claim they are seeking a peaceful resolution.
The Coalition is seeking a meeting this week with the Administration and will provide updates as they become available.
